Personal Resilience
Half or full day | Online or in person
This half-day course is designed to help individuals build awareness around their own stresses and psychological challenges in and out of work, so
that they can explore techniques to building personal resilience. We’ll look at where pressures come from, how they interact with each of us
individually and how we can manage our own mindset and attitude to keep things under control so that we can face life's challenges successfully and
bounce back from hardships.
What's Covered
The course covers the following:
- Understanding the importance of resilience: What it is (and isn’t), why it matters and what it takes for a person to be resilient.
- Knowing yourself: An interactive exploration of how we each think and approach situations, including identifying signs of stress, reactive behaviour and thinking about triggers. Depending on the group, we’ll explore topics such as:
- Your own stress: Spotting behavioural/physical signs in yourself and identifying the stressors that triggered them.
- Positive and negative thinking, including a focus on realistic optimism and techniques for managing/overcoming negative thinking.
- Emotional intelligence and awareness: recognising what you’re feeling so you can stay assertive and in control.
- Your strengths and weaknesses: Knowing when you’re going to be able to solve an issue and when you’re going to need support.
- Tackling pressure and building resilience: A look at different kind of pressures, immediate and long-term, and how we need to adapt our reactions to cope, including a range of techniques and tips, with emphasis on being adaptable and flexible. We’ll explore a number of areas at a high level, such as:
- Relationships and communication: The value of empathetically supporting others and being supported to manage stress and build resilience.
- Time management and problem solving: A look at some quick tips for creating structure to take the pressure off.
- Boundaries and limits: Making sure you focus on what’s important to you and don’t take on too much, while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
- Finding your own way: Routines, exercise, diet, mindfulness, socialising, rewards and more.
- Self-review and planning: A chance to identify what we can each do differently in the future, pre-emptively identifying future challenges and how we might respond to them.
